Important note: Barlow Park Stadium upgrades began in September 2026, with limited athletics use anticipated from early 2027. Track and facility availability will be monitored in the lead-up to the Games. If Barlow Park is unavailable, Johnson Park, Gordonvale will be the secondary athletics venue. Johnson Park is a grass track with tartan Long/Triple area.

The minimum age for competition is 30 years.

Age is determined as of 25 June 2027.

MULTI EVENTS:

  • Throws Pentathlon: Friday. Includes all five throwing events, with three attempts per event.
  • Men’s Track & Field Pentathlon: long jump, javelin, 200m, discus and 1500m.
  • Women’s Track & Field Pentathlon: 100m, shot put, long jump, javelin and 800m.

SPORTS FEE:

  • $30 per person
  • $10 per event, up to 7 events
  • More than 8 events, no extra charge
  • Throws Pentathlon $35 extra charge

Barlow Park Stadium. If Barlow Park is unavailable due to upgrade, Johnson Park in Gordonvale will be the secondary athletics venue.

  • Draft schedule as per above: October 2026.
  • Final schedule: released after registrations close and published on the Games website.
  • Events may not run with fewer than 3 competitors.
  • Age groups and events may be combined; athletes will still compete in their own age bracket.
  • Age on the first day of competition determines implement weights, hurdle heights and some track distances. Check the Australian Masters Athletics technical specifications
  • Personal Implements must be checked in 2 hours before event
  • Scratching from an event? Notify the sports organiser as early as possible.
  • Pole vaulters must bring or arrange hire of their own pole. Contact the sports organiser for details.
  • Track & Field Pentathlon entrants must enter all five pentathlon events plus the pentathlon event for point scoring. Events run with stand-alone events; the best attempt from the first three field rounds counts.
  • Heats may be held for events under 400m with more than eight entrants.
  • Athletes check in once before their first event. Scratchings must be advised before the event.
  • Potential Australian or World record attempts must be advised to the TIC at check-in so official requirements can be met.
  • No call room. Athletes must be at their event location 15 minutes before start time.
  • Uniforms are optional; shoes are compulsory.
  • Club registration is not required but must be noted on entry.
  • Throws, long jump and triple jump: three attempts, plus three more for the top eight.
  • Competition follows World Masters Athletics (WMA) rules.
  • No medal ceremonies. Field athletes collect medals after their event; track athletes collect medals from the admin desk about 15 minutes after their event.
  • Event clashes: Clashes will be minimised where possible. Some unusual event combinations may be unavoidable, and athletes may need to choose which event to pursue.
  • Athletes may not join an event after the fourth round starts. Athletes leaving for another event may compete out of turn before leaving and rejoin at the round in progress. For major clashes, the Competition Director may allow multiple attempts in one round, with affected athletes informed.
